You Started You Business, Now What

So you started your business. Not what? You have your domain name, you have your starter pack on the way and thousands of questions.
Take a deep breath, refill that java, and take a seat.

Although I am hoping you have signed up with the BEST, and have a fresh Shaklee business, these steps will generally work for any direct sales business.

First, become familiar with your website, and customize as much as possible. Add a personal photo, tell your personal story (of how you got to know the company), and list your favorite products. People love seeing that there's an actual person behind that business- it gives more confidence to the whole process.

Second, get an email address. If you are not provided one by your company, sign up for a gmail address, and come up with a good email name. Once your email is set up, create a signature to be visible in all your outgoing emails. In the settings of your email account you will find the option to create such a signature. The instructions are pretty straight forward, and they allow you to add links, images and even videos to your signature. One word of advice though- just because you can, doesn't mean you should. A signature should never be cluttered! Keep it clean and attractive in its appearance. Put in all the information you need, nothing you don't!
As you start adding websites, blogs, and social media accounts, add them to your email signature!

Third, get a refill on that coffee. And a snack. May I recommend a Cinch bar?

Fourth, start a facebook business account. Make sure you have one personal, and one business account. One of the biggest rules in social marketing with social media- don't bombard your friends with your business stuff!
On the initial sign on screen of facebook you will find the option to sign up. Use that to start your business page, they will guide you through setting it up, and it will be linked to your personal account (assuming you have one) making switching between the two a breeze.

You are now well on your way to get your business rolling at a fast pace! Play around with your options, images and captions. Make your sites and signatures uncluttered, clean, and easy to read, all with a touch of personality.

More to come, stay tuned!

Sleepytime

That is the time, right now. Sleepytime. And that is also the name of the tea I'm currently sipping in my little breakfast nook office.  The kids are sleeping, all the household chores are done, and I'm getting some work done. Yes, us work-from-home types need to sacrifice a few hours of sleep time now and then, but, that is totally ok in my book- I don't sit in an office working for 40 yukky hours every week.

This evenings task list include; two blog entries, one thank you email, one facebook post, one motivational email to a downline, finalize a newspaper ad, and complete my to-do list for tomorrow.  That is approximately one hours worth of work, and it is fun and rewarding too!

When all the work you do is fun and you can do it in your home, on your couch, or at a coffee shop, it doesn't even seem like work! I work with really great people, my team. My uplines, my downlines, and my customers, they are all great people! I enjoy our phone conferences and webinars, I chat with them about the kids and theirs first day of school and about how much we look forward to getting together on that cruise next year. I am friends with these people, and most of them, I've never met. Not once.
We are friends of facebook, and I know the names of their kids. I know that in this wonderful Shaklee family of ours, we all care about others, about the environment, and about a healthier world.
What more can one ask, work from home at will, work with fun, kind and caring people of similar mind-set? I love my job and want to share it with everyone.

Do you want to work in your jammies? Drop me a line, I know how to get you going right away.

A new chapter, a new blog

I have been working from home for just over a year now. I am in love with my job, and have decided to start sharing my successes, trials and errors, to help others in the same industry.
A mother of two, with a generally over-filled schedule, and not enough dough to pay for full-time daycare x2, working from home was the only option.

Direct sales never intrigued me, stuffing envelopes- I don't think so. Someone even suggested putting together Christmas ornaments for some company at home for .5 cents/piece. What? Really? No, I have a little more pride than that, and half a brain too.

I had been using Shaklee's Basic H all purpose cleaner for years (thanks mom-in-law). I loved it, and used it always. Meanwhile I had NO idea Shaklee could also be an opportunity for a SAHM to make some cash.
I debated with myself. Could I do this? I asked a million questions, did a ton of research. Talked it over with my family, and finally about one year ago I took the dive into business ownership.

It was a Saturday night. I had a glass of red by my side, and my hubby across the table. Credit card in hand (cause you have to spend money to make money), and started my minimal investment, work from home business.

Empowered. That is the understatement of the year. I was ecstatic. I was a proud business owner.
I had partnered with a multi-billionaire (Roger Barnett), and done something GREAT for the environment all in one click of the mouse.
They(Shaklee) plant trees for each new distributor. They are the first company EVER to be certified Climate Neutral. They have no negative reviews. They have been in business since the 50's. Their AVERAGE customer has been with the company for 17 years. There's many more reasons, but that was enough to get me going.

So if want to start your own business, and work from home in your jammies (or the occasional, dressed Starbucks shift), make MINIMAL investment, and start up with Shaklee. Call me, text me, email me- I'll get you started. Right after I get my slippers out of the dryer (did I mention the fabric softener is amazing!?).
